Nathalia – My way of photographing always seeks spontaneity, for that for that I like to make people comfortable, being who they are in the most genuine way. One project I had when I started Photographing Families was to photograph them in their homes.
The Mirror – Family Session
It has always yielded great photos and helped kick-start my first authorial Photography Project – Project Mirror, with the style of Documentary Photography, without interfering, just recording children’s moments. I did two exhibitions before coming to Portugal and consider it one of the first highlights of my career, where I began to look at photography as a form of artistic expression. We will make a post about the Mirror Project – Stay tuned!
Therefore, the Family Session does not need much, I like to portray what the day is like, as a way to record the moment they are experiencing. Elements of the house are important, spontaneous laughs are the ones I like the most, but most of all I love feeling like a spy, without interfering at that moment.
The photos I like to see most of myself as a child are the ones I’m in my space, playing with my stuff, some I’m crying, making fun of, and some genuine interaction with my family. The posadas I like, but they don’t seem to say who I am, they just look like records that I was there, it’s different.
Family Session – Expecting Gustavo
As soon as I announced my trip to Brazil they contacted us to be together again! This family really lives in my heart. I felt at home, I already knew Valentina and her sweet way very well and we hope to meet little Gustavo also on the next trip to Brazil.
It was wonderful to be with this family again. I photographed Valentina’s christening when I was just a baby. Then we had the pleasure of photographing her first year when she was a baby who kept dancing and sending kisses. And now with the family growing, Thiago and Aldyne waiting for Gustavo’s arrival. I am sure and thankful that this little being will be received in a home full of love.
Indulge in the photographs full of affection, feeling, mess, and the carefreeness of those who want to have the true moment recorded in family. The result: pure love!
